About this event
Our guest speaker for the May general meeting will be Dr. Brian Johnson, professor in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at the University of California, Davis, and author of the book Honey Bee Biology. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, San Diego, and at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his PhD under the supervision of Thomas Seeley at Cornell University. Dr. Johnson conducts research mainly on division of labor in bees, and the evolutionary genetics of social evolution.
Dr. Johnson will deliver a presentation titled: “Varroa mites: did they cause CCD and all the problems since, and are we closer to reliable treatments?”

Our May meeting will also include a mini raffle and a silent auction. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the meeting, and the raffle will take place after the guest speaker. Silent auction items will be located near the check-in tables. To bid on an item, simply write your name and bid on the sheet attached to the item. We’ll keep the bidding open until the mini raffle ends and announce the auction winners.
